My name is Hans Dillesse. I have been
a professional artist since 1983 and specialize in portraiture, an old
love of mine dating back to my years at the art academy of Tilburg,
The Netherlands.
Besides doing portraits, during my travels I can be found painting landscapes.
I prefer to do this, if at all possible, away from civilisation, alone
with my easel and surrounded by nature. In the work I do there you will
seldom find any sign of human existence. Ireland has made a deep impression
on me in this respect.
In recent years I have rediscovered an old love of mine - the woodcut.
A wonderful technique in which I print by hand, using just a spoon!
Together with twelve other artists I am a member of the Art Foundation
Tij. We are a colourful mix of people of varied disciplines who stimulate
each other enormously. This group gives me a lot of energy.
Apart from that I love to teach other people the skills of my profession.
I have been an art teacher for years and give lectures in art history
throughout the country. I also give workshops on request in portraiture
at my studio in Utrecht.
